The firm comprises of two main divisions, the principal investing division and the advisory services division. The principal investing division aims to invest and manage funds in Iraqi businesses on behalf of our investors. Our investment philosophy is centred on three core principles: specialisation, granularity and risk management. We target middle market acquisitions of companies with a consumer market focus. The opportunities we look at are predominantly active in Baghdad and the southern provinces of Iraq, areas that constitute the backbone of the country’s economy. Leveraging our deep local expertise and wide relationship network, we source good quality businesses from distressed sellers that are likely to benefit from value add operational solutions. The advisory services division aims to provide professional advice to our clients to help them navigate and establish a presence in Iraq. We provide investment banking advice on corporate transactions, financing advice on capital markets transactions, proprietary research reports on the Iraqi economy and advice on tenders and local representation to our foreign clients looking to establish operations in Iraq. Tamweel was formed with the primary mission to provide sophisticated management in the Iraqi market, which is characterised by significant opportunities but also significant challenges. Whilst entering or expanding into the Iraqi market is tempting, it is also difficult. It may lead to significant profits but will surely involve making decisions amid significant uncertainty and risk. At Tamweel, our mission is to reduce the uncertainty and risk.
